Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – Bartlett Regional Hospital will be hosting the second annual Real Talk Walk/Run event this
Saturday, October 21st, at the Juneau Airport Trail. The event will raise awareness of motherhood mental health, birth trauma, pregnancy, and infant loss, and provide information about the perinatal support and resources available in Juneau.

“We know the journey to parenthood is challenging and takes a team effort,” said Jess Sperry, Bartlett’s Obstetrics Director. “Parents who choose to partner with Bartlett Beginnings receive support from pregnancy through their child’s toddler years. We want parents, particularly mothers, to know there are safe and welcoming spaces where they can talk with others going through similar experiences and get access to important educational resources.”

Saturday’s event starts at 9:00 a.m. with a toddler trot and kids half-mile followed by a 1-mile walk and 5k run. Warm beverages, snacks, and medals for kids will be provided alongside educational materials. No registration is required. Free t-shirts will be available for the first 30 kids and 30 adults.
