Ketchikan, Alaska (KINY) – On Saturday at about 10:42 p.m., the Alaska State Troopers attempted to stop a vehicle for equipment and moving violation on the 3rd Avenue bypass.
The vehicle failed to yield, accelerated, and ran five stop signs, and failed to use any turn signals in a residential area.
The vehicle traveled almost a mile prior to stopping in the 3200 Block of Baranof Avenue.
The driver was identified as 58-year-old Maurice Stern of Ketchikan.
Stern was ultimately arrested for Failure to Stop in the Direction of a Peace Officer 1st Degree, and Reckless Driving.
Stern was remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center with No Bail.
