Alaska State Troopers are conducting a drug investigation after a Wasilla man overdosed

Wasilla, Alaska (KINY) – On Dec. 8, at 7:53 am, the Alaska State Troopers were notified that an unresponsive male was discovered at a residence in Wasilla.

Troopers and EMS responded and located 40-year-old Wasilla resident James “Jimmy” Leseman.

Despite life-saving efforts, Leseman was pronounced deceased.

Evidence at the scene suggested that Leseman’s death may have been a result of an overdose.

The Alaska State Trooper’s Mat-Su Drug Unit responded and began an investigation into the source of the narcotics.

While executing search warrants on Dec. 12, at a Wasilla residence and vehicle associated with the investigation, Troopers seized fentanyl, methamphetamine, drug distribution materials, body armor, suppressors, and 40 firearms.

46-year-old Wasilla resident Richard Walker, who was already in custody from a recent arrest for violating conditions of release, was charged with two counts of MICS 2, two counts of MICS 3, one count of MIW 2, and three counts of MIW 3.

67-year-old Wasilla resident Luther Walker was arrested at the residence without incident on two counts of MIW 3. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.

Leseman’s next of kin have been notified, and his body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.
