Alaska State Troopers make arrests in Ketchikan

Ketchikan, Alaska (KINY) – Alaska State Troopers made multiple arrests in Ketchikan over the past three days.

On Thursday at about 7:00 p.m., the Alaska State Troopers with the assistance of the United States Coast Guard (USCG) contacted and arrested 47-year-old Ketchikan resident David Vest in the Tongass Narrows on F/V Silver Surfer.

Vest was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the Ketchikan Courthouse for VCOR referencing the original charges of DUI and VCOR.

USCG transported Vest to AST at Bar Harbor.

Vest was transported and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center with bail set at $2,500. AST would like to thank the USCG for their fast response and assistance.

On Thursday at about 8:00 p.m., the Alaska State Troopers contacted and arrested 35-year-old Ketchikan resident Michael Jessen near mile 13 of the North Tongass Highway. Jessen had an outstanding warrant for his arrest issued by the Ketchikan Courthouse in reference to Violating Conditions of Release.

Further investigation revealed after Jessen had been arrested that he was also again violating conditions of release set by the Ketchikan Courthouse by being in possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jessen was transported and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center with bail set at $2,000. AST would like to thank Pretrial Services for their assistance with the investigation.

On Thursday at about 8:42 p.m., the Alaska State Troopers contacted and arrested 54-year-old Ketchikan resident Christopher Nelson at about mile 3 of the North Tongass Highway. Nelson was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the Ketchikan Courthouse for Failure to Report to Ketchikan Correctional Center in reference to the original charges of Violate a Protective Order. Nelson was arrested and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center with No Bail and time to serve.

On Friday at about 4:41 p.m., the Alaska State Troopers with the assistance of United States Forest Service Law Enforcement contacted and arrested 28-year-old Ketchikan resident Samantha Wright in the 2500 Block of Eagle Avenue. Investigation revealed that Wright had an outstanding warrant issued by the Ketchikan Courthouse about the original offense of Criminal Trespass in the 2nd Degree. Wright was transported and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center with bail set at $500.00.

At the same time, AST and the USFS contacted and arrested 30-year-old Ketchikan resident Shaquille Mills in the 2500 Block of Eagle Avenue. Investigation revealed that Mills had an outstanding warrant issued by the Ketchikan Courthouse about the original charges of Criminal Trespass in the 2nd Degree, and VCOR. Mills was transported and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center with bail set at $500.00.

On Saturday at about 11:21 a.m., the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a disturbance at a residence located at mile 8 of the North Tongass Highway. Investigation revealed that 27-year-old Ketchikan resident Toniann Hoelscher had assaulted another family member while at the residence. Hoelscher was arrested for Assault in the 4th Degree DV and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center with No Bail.
