Alaska State Troopers respond to disturbance in Craig

Craig, Alaska (KINY) – On Saturday, Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence in Craig for a report of serious property damage and a disturbance.

Troopers responded and located 33-year-old Juneau resident Michael Starr, wearing only a sweatshirt and covered in blood.

There was broken glass and other damaged items throughout the residence.

Starr fled the residence and was later located by troopers under the porch.

Starr was tased while under the porch after being given several verbal commands to come out, throwing rocks at the troopers, and threatening to kill them.

Starr was successfully handcuffed after being tased and extricated from under the porch.

Starr continued to violently resist until he was placed in the Craig Jail.

Investigation revealed Starr threatened one of the individuals at the home with a knife, physically assaulted an individual, and damaged several thousand dollars’ worth of personal belongings including a double pane window to the home after he threw a tricycle through it.

Starr’s charges include two counts of Assault 3, two counts of Assault 4, Criminal Mischief 3, Resisting Arrest, and Violation of Conditions of Release.

Starr is held without bail until arraignment.
