Alaska Wildlife Troopers conduct search and rescue response in Palmer

Palmer, Alaska (KINY) - Alaska Wildlife Troopers received notification from the Rescue Coordination Center that they responded to an emergency locator transmitter activation on Strandline Lake near Beluga Lake on the backside of Mount Susitna.

Alaska Wildlife Troopers received the notification on Sunday at approximately 12:20 a.m.

A C-130 responded and was able to locate the Piper PA-18 aircraft that had flipped onto its roof.

The two occupants reported no injuries and had gear to remain there overnight if needed.

RCC dispatched a Pavehawk which was able to retrieve the occupants.

The Pavehawk transported them to Palmer Airport where they were met by Troopers and a family member.

The National Transportation Safety Board has been notified.
