Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – The Blood Bank of Alaska is in critical need of blood donors this week due to patient needs.
Blood types O Positive and O Negative are in high demand to help patients in need.
O Negative blood donors are known as universal donors as their blood can be transfused to patients with all other blood types.
For those interested in donating blood, they can do so at centers located in Anchorage, Wasilla, Fairbanks, and Juneau.
Appointments are recommended but walk-ins are welcome.
On average, a blood donation takes one hour to complete.
One in seven hospital patients needs blood during their treatment. By donating blood, you could save as many as three lives.
