Dimond Park Aquatic Center to Implement Temporary Changes Due to Staffing Shortages

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – Due to critical staffing shortages, the Dimond Park Aquatic Center (DPAC) will introduce temporary changes starting Friday, Sept. 6. The adjustments aim to maintain swimmer safety while keeping the pool open to the community as much as possible.

The following changes will be in effect:

  • Limited capacity: Pool attendance will be capped at 50 swimmers on Friday nights, Saturdays, and Sundays.
  • Reduced hours: The pool will close at 3 p.m. on Saturdays and at 4 p.m. on Sundays. Weekday hours remain unchanged.
  • Reduced equipment access: Diving boards and slides will be closed on Friday nights, Saturdays, and Sundays.

These measures are expected to be in place until staffing levels improve, which is currently projected for November.

Residents are encouraged to check the DPAC schedule here for updates on the latest pool hours and availability.

Juneau Pools is actively recruiting for full-time and part-time positions. Interested applicants can view openings and apply at the Government Jobs website. Additionally, a lifeguard training course will be offered from Oct. 16-19, with more details to be announced soon.
