Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – The Eaglecrest Christmas Eve Celebration is back. Eaglecrest will host a holiday event in the Great Room at Upper Fish Creek Lodge for an afternoon of jolly festivities filled with music, cookies, and Christmas stories.

The torchlight parade will commence once Rudolph signals for help to guide Santa down Porcupine.

Participation in the annual Torchlight Parade is optional. If participating, people need to plan to bring and use their gear. Children aged 5 and up must be independent chair riders, and children 4 and below will need adult riders to accompany them.

Ski Patrol will be out on the snow to lend a hand during the parade.

An email will be sent to registered participants with more information before the event.

Registration is live and spots are limited for gifts.

Guests must be 18 and under to receive a gift from Santa.

While Eaglecrest preps for their (hopefully) snowy Christmas Eve, they said opening day is now up to Mother Nature.

Eaglecrest thanked the entire Mountain Operations Team who captured a short window of snowmaking temperatures to fortify the lower mountain.

They ran 21 guns for 18 hours, a record for Eaglecrest.

Unfortunately the forecasted temperatures never quite materialized to give them quality production.

Nonetheless, they added a little depth to their existing piles and left nothing to chance.

With the variety of forecasted conditions over the next 5 days across various weather models, it is impossible to predict when Opening Day will be at this point.

As soon as they have new information and an opening date, it will be posted.
