Fred Elmer Parady, III, Executive Vice President of Huna Totem Corporation, Dies at 68

Juneau, Alaska (KINY)—Fred Elmer Parady, III, the Executive Vice President of Huna Totem Corporation, passed away unexpectedly on June 16th, 2024, at 68.

Parady, the son of Fred Parady, Jr., and Jeannine Marie Parady, was born at Loring Air Force Base in Aroostook County, Maine, on July 19, 1955. He grew up living on multiple Air Force bases across the U.S. and abroad.

In Spokane, Washington, he graduated as student body president and valedictorian from Lewis and Clark High School. He attended the University of Idaho, where he graduated with a B.S. in Range Resources in 1978 and later completed an M.S. in Land Rehabilitation at Montana State University in 1981.

Parady began a career working in mineland reclamation and mine health and safety (first in Butte, Montana), which led to his work in Wyoming after a stint where he raised four daughters with his wife, Dr. Lisa Skiles Parady.

Parady began his political career in Rock Springs, Wyoming, where he served in the Wyoming State Legislature. He eventually became Speaker of the House, followed by Chair of the Wyoming Republican State Party, and set policies that still affect Wyoming today. During that time, Fred and Lisa Parady moved to Utqiagvik, Alaska, and then to Juneau in 2007. In this position, Parady worked as Alaska’s Deputy Commissioner of Commerce.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Lisa Skiles Parady; daughters Sarah (Chris Montville), Katelyn (Peter O’Dowd), Annalise, and Kaycee Parady; grandchildren Max & Marissa (Parady O’Dowd) and Imogen & Oscar (Montville); sisters Kathie Heilsberg and Nancy (Darryl) Marcus; sister-in-law Barb Robinson (Mark Miller); and brother-in-law Dave (Kerri) Phillips; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

A celebration of Fred Parady’s life will be held Sunday, June 23rd, at Kuneix Hidi Northern Light United Church in Juneau at 2:00 p.m., with a follow-up celebration planned in Wyoming. Flowers are gratefully declined in lieu of donations to Juneau Animal Rescue.
