Due to weather conditions in both Skagway and Haines, the highways leading out of town have been closed. Here is the statement for the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities:
The Klondike Highway out of Skagway is closed due to heavy snowfall and inoperable snowblowers. Our mechanics are attempting to repair a snowblower that broke down today. Another snowblower will be ferried over from Haines on the next available ferry (Friday)
The Haines Road has been closed on the Yukon side of the border due to similar weather conditions.
