Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – Late Monday around 9:26 p.m., a JPD patrol officer advised dispatch that he had been involved in a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of 10th Street and Egan Drive.
The JPD officer was driving a silver 2017 Ford Taurus which sustained damage to the driver’s side. A 16 year-old female was operating a white 2020 Honda CRV which sustained front end damage.
Airbags in both vehicles deployed. Both vehicles sustained substantial damage and were towed from the scene.
Prior to the collision, the patrol vehicle was driving inbound on Egan. The Honda was driving outbound on Egan and had begun making a left hand turn toward the Douglas Bridge. The vehicles collided in the intersection.
Capital City Fire/Rescue responded to evaluate both drivers.
The police officer was transported by ambulance to BRH where he was treated and has since been released.
The female driver was evaluated on scene and released to family. The inbound lanes of Egan Drive were closed to through traffic for about 3 hours.
Outbound lanes of Egan between Gold Creek and 10th Street were closed to through traffic for about 2.5 hours.
