Juneau, Alaska (KINY)- The Juneau Reentry Coalition invites members of the public to join its Adopt-A-Highway pickup event on Saturday, April 27, 2024, beginning at 10 am.
Light refreshments will be available.
The pickup event occurs at JREC’s adopted 4 to 5-mile North Douglas Highway.
JREC meets at the 4-mile marker.
After instructions and the handing out of trash bags and nitrile gloves, participants will walk both sides of the highway, picking up trash in ditches.
It takes about one hour to pick up both sides of the highway.
The event is open to all.
However, parents of children are forewarned being alongside a highway is dangerous, and they are responsible for their child’s safety.
Rain or shine volunteers will be cleaning up JREC’s Adopt-A-Highway stretch of road at 4 mile North Douglas Highway.
