Juneau, Alaska (KINY)- The City and Borough of Juneau Assessor’s Office has started its annual property inspections, running from April to October. This year, properties in the Auke Bay, Auke Mountain, Back Loop-South, and Point Louisa neighborhoods will be inspected. Channel View, Waterside, and Glacier View mobile home parks are also included in this year’s schedule.
The inspections, which occur every five years, involve exterior evaluations of properties. Assessors will take photos, verify measurements, and check the condition of each property to determine its value for tax purposes. Residents are advised to ask for official identification from Assessor’s Office staff if needed.
State law mandates regular property assessments, and the Juneau Assembly established a five-year reevaluation cycle in 1993.
