In between the J/V game and Varsity, the Huskies’ senior night took place. Each senior was recognized for their work ethic and drive during their time playing for the Huskies. They also discussed their plans for after high school and gave advice to other Huskies. They walked out onto the field with their family and friends.
Juneau Huskies coach Rich Sjoroos detailed the varsity game after it finished.
“Got ourselves too many turnovers really, kind of put them in a good spot and they came out physical and they ran the ball well and finished drives and kept us from getting any kind of momentum going,” he said. “And it just kind of snowballed and just really couldn’t get a turnaround today.”
He also spoke on their playoff plan.
“We get the luxury now in making all the adjustments. When they won like they did two weeks ago, they’re not going to just do away with it, you know, there’s not really many adjustments that they would do on their end. And we can hopefully get down to the grindstone, find some things that work, and try and make a game,” he said. “So the difference between now is we have a young team, a West veteran team, and the pressure starts getting on you when your careers and seasons can end on one given night.”
The Juneau Huskies will play West Anchorage this Friday night at 7 p.m. KINY will carry this game on the Hawk 107.9 FM.
