Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – A Juneau jury convicted 44-year-old Clyde Pasterski on multiple counts of Misconduct Involving Controlled Substances and Attempted Escape in the Second Degree.
Pasterski was also convicted of two felony fear assault counts, one count of Assault in the Fourth Degree and Resisting Arrest for his conduct directed at responding officers with the Juneau Police Department.
At trial, the evidence showed that Juneau Police Department obtained search warrants for Pasterski’s residence in May 2020 for evidence of misconduct involving weapons and controlled substances.
Upon executing those search warrants Juneau Police Department officers located multiple firearms, eight seal bombs, methamphetamines and heroin, along with multiple scales, baggies and bundles of cash.
After being interviewed by officers at the Juneau Police Department, Pasterski was notified he was under arrest. Pasterski did not comply with officers’ commands and attempted to run.
While officers attempted to detain Pasterski, he began violently thrashing around, slamming the two officers against the walls.
During this struggle Pasterski attempted to grab an officer’s firearm and did grab the other officer’s baton. Officers were ultimately able to gain control and place Pasterski into custody.
Pasterski was previously convicted and sentenced in a federal matter for firearm offenses related to this incident. Pasterski is serving a six-and-a-half-year sentence in that matter.
Superior Court Judge Larry Woolford presided over the trial.
Sentencing is scheduled for March 28, 2025. Pasterski faces up to 36 years of imprisonment. Assistant District Attorney Jessalyn Gillum prosecuted this case.
This case was investigated by the Juneau Police Department and JPD Detective Kathy Underwood, and paralegal Marely Hettinger assisted with the trial.
