Juneau man arrested for arson in connection to trailer fire

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – On May 2, 2024, at about 6:20 a.m. dispatchers received multiple 911 calls reporting that a camper trailer in the area of Del Rae Road and Glacier Highway was on fire.

Capital City Fire Rescue was dispatched to the location.

The trailer was very close to a residence and the fire quickly spread, going up the side of the residence.

All people were able to safely evacuate from the trailer and the residence.

The Red Cross was contacted and is working to assist displaced residents.

Animal Control responded to care for several cats.

Both structures were destroyed, deemed uninhabitable and access to the area is not permitted due to extreme unsafe conditions.

During the investigation, the Fire Marshall determined that the fire may have been intentionally set and requested that Juneau Police Department respond to assist.

JPD patrol officers and a detective responded to the scene and contacted the suspect, 35-year-old Juneau resident, Talon Lobaugh.

Lobaugh was arrested on one count of Arson 1st degree (DV), one count of Assault 3rd degree (DV), and one count of Assault 3rd degree.

He was transported to and lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center on these three felony charges. The investigation continues.
