Juneau School District CFO Resigns

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – The CFO of the Juneau School district has stepped down.

Lisa Pearce began the role in July after accepting it in May.

The district announced her resignation last week, saying she’s resigning to spend more time with her family and new grandchild.

The resignation wasn’t a surprise, officials always expected her appointment to be a short one. She was initially hired in December on a temporary basis before accepting the full-time job.

She guided the district through its financial crisis, and also school consolidation.

The CFO is responsible for preparing the district budget, long-range fiscal planning, and projections.

The CFO’s role is to communicate the district budget to the school board, CBJ assembly and community.  In addition the CFO manages the district’s contracts, including transportation and student nutrition.

The CFO is also the fiscal advisor to the superintendent and school board on district related matters.
