JUNEAU – After capturing the hearts of the community and everyone at Juneau Animal Rescue, Juno, a rescue dog who became a local favorite, has officially found her forever home.
Juno’s story began under tragic circumstances. The shelter took the dog in following the death of her previous owner, Steven Kissack, 35, who was fatally shot after advancing on Juneau Police officers and an Alaska Wildlife Trooper with a knife.
The community rallied behind Juno throughout her journey, with many individuals offering to help, donate, and inquire about adopting her.
Juno went to her new home on August 20 in a foster-to-adopt arrangement to ensure a smooth transition and compatibility between the dog and her new caregiver. After a successful trial period, Juno was officially adopted on August 29.
Her new owner expressed excitement about Juno’s transition into her new life. “She brings me so much joy. She’s adjusting well to living mostly indoors and loves romping through the woods and curling up on her bed,” Juno’s new companion shared.
Juneau Animal Rescue extended its gratitude to everyone who contributed to Juno’s journey, particularly those who donated to the Second Chance Fund and Spay/Neuter Fund, which covered all of Juno’s medical expenses.
