Juneau, Alaska – Today, Sunday, July 14, a landslide occurred above Gastineau Avenue. The first slide occurred at 11 a.m. behind 231 Gastineau Ave. Capital City Fire/Rescue responded and evacuated several individuals. While on scene, two additional slides and additional evacuations occurred in the same general location.
No injuries have been reported at this time. The Red Cross is assisting evacuees.
No utility outages have been reported at this time. CBJ Public Works is responding and clearing street drains.
Significant rainfall is expected to continue through Tuesday. Residents who live in a landslide zone should consider their evacuation plans in the event of additional slides throughout the Borough.
