Mendenhall River flood update: flood over, avoid river as water levels fall

Juneau, Alaska- Mendenhall Lake crested at 10.77 feet at approximately 11:30 p.m. Sunday, October 20. Water levels are now falling rapidly in both the lake and the river. Minimal impacts were observed to residential neighborhoods.

Please continue to avoid the Mendenhall River during this time. The banks are unstable and the river is full of trees and debris following the flood.

View Drive, Skater’s Cabin Road, Kaxdigoowu Héen Dei (Brotherhood Bridge Trail), and the Dimond Park pedestrian bridge will be reopened shortly.
