Mendenhall River flooding update: FEMA in Juneau for Joint Preliminary Damage Assessment

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – Representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Small Business Administration (SBA) are in Juneau this week to conduct a Joint Preliminary Damage Assessment following the August 6 Mendenhall River flooding.

Teams of FEMA, SBA, state and tribal representatives will be on the ground in neighborhoods impacted by flooding, visiting individual homes, doing damage assessments, and gathering information to support any request for a federal declaration of emergency.

Teams will be out in the neighborhoods through Friday, August 30.
