Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – Today is officially election day in Juneau.  You must have been registered by September first to vote in the CBJ elections this year.

Ballots must be postmarked by today and received before election certification to count.

If you’re returning your ballot via USPS, a first class stamp is required and CBJ recommends checking to make sure the envelope has a legible postmark.

Ballot drop boxes will be open today until 8pm.  Drop boxes are located at the Alaska Light and Power Company in Lemon Creek, at City Hall, the Douglas LIbrary/Fire Hall Community building, the Mendenhall Valley Public Library, and at the Statter Harbor Boat Launch parking lot.

In person vote Centers are also open to people who need assistance, require an ADA accessible ballot, did not receive a ballot in the mail, or simply prefer to vote in person.

Those are at the City Hall Assembly Chambers and the Mendenhall Valley Public Library.  In person voting centers will also be open until 8 pm.

This year’s ballot includes the election for Juneau’s mayor, two assembly seats, seats on the board of education, two funding measures, two recall elections of current school board members, and the Ship-Free Saturdays proposition.
