Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – The Perseverance Trail will be closed from the Granite Creek intersection to the Upper Red Mill juncture beginning today, Monday, June 3. This closure is necessary to replace the bridge at Gold Creek, located at mile 2.5 of the trail. The segment will remain closed until the new bridge installation is completed.
Trail Mix crews will start dismantling and removing the old bridge on Monday. Later in the week, depending on weather conditions, helicopter crews will transport materials, bridge beams, and equipment to the site.
During the closure, trail users can access the Granite Creek Basin Trail and Silverbow Basin via the Red Mill Trail. For safety reasons, please follow signed detours and avoid the construction site.
“We appreciate your patience and cooperation as the Trail Mix crew works to safely and efficiently install the new bridge and re-open the trail as soon as possible,” said a representative from CBJ Parks & Recreation.
