Juneau, Alaska (KINY)—Perseverance Trail will be closed from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, July 1 (weather permitting) while helicopter crews transport construction material for the Gold Creek bridge along the corridor.
During the closure, Coastal Helicopters will sling loads of material from the Last Chance Basin parking lot at the end of Basin Road to the bridge construction site on Gold Creek, 2.5 miles up Perseverance Trail from the trailhead parking lot. The Trail Mix crew will then align and construct the abutments, sills, and plates on the creek banks to prepare the site for five 2000-lb. glue-lam beams to be flown in by helicopter later in July.
Access to the Perseverance Trail will reopen in the afternoon. However, the trail remains closed from the Granite Creek intersection to the Upper Red Mill junction until the installation of the new bridge is complete. For the safety of yourself and others, please follow signed detours and avoid the construction site.
