Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – Dimond Park Aquatic Center will offer beginner and intermediate swim lessons for preschool and youth age groups from Jan. 22 to Feb. 14 and Parent & Tot lessons from Jan. 20 to Feb. 24.
Registration for all swim lessons listed below will open on Friday, Jan. 5 at noon.
To register, visit the Parks & Recreation online registration catalog and click on the Juneau Pools tab. Registrations will not be taken over the phone, in person, or in advance.
Swim lessons cost $80 + tax for 8 lessons and Parent & Tot lessons cost $60 + tax for 6 lessons.
Preschool and Youth Lessons
Beginner and intermediate lessons for preschool and youth age groups take place every Monday and Wednesday evening from Jan. 22 through Feb. 14. Preschool classes are open to children ages 3-5 and youth classes to ages 6-12.
All lessons are thirty minutes long. Classes are offered in a variety of time slots between 3:30 and 7:00 p.m.
See the registration portal for a detailed schedule. Swimmers should register for lessons according to their age and skill level. The maximum capacity for each class varies between 4 to 8 students based on the age group and number of instructors per class.
Parent & Tot Lessons
Parent & Tot swim lessons take place every Saturday from Jan. 20 to Feb. 24 at Dimond Park Aquatic Center. Two sessions are available: 9:15-9:45 a.m. for children 6 to 17 months old and 10:00-10:30 a.m. for 18 to 35 months. Each child must be accompanied in the pool by an adult, and children are required to wear swim diapers during class. Each session has 14 spaces available. Scholarships are available and the application deadline is Jan. 3.
