Sitka, Alaska — Due to damage from the windstorm of January 29th, 2024, the Russian Memorial Loop Trail is temporarily closed. The trail will be closed as work to remove trees and repair the trail surface is underway. Visitors should look for alerts or closures at each trailhead and respect these limited closures when you see a trail posted as “Closed.”
As work around the Russian Memorial Loop is completed, the park will re-evaluate the trail. Park staff is appreciative for the public’s understanding and cooperation as staff works to open the trail as soon as possible.
