Search and rescue stories kickoff 2024 Fireside Series

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – The Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center is opening the Fireside Lecture Series on Jan. 12 with Stories of Search and Rescue in Southeast Alaska.

Dea Huff and members of Juneau Mountain Rescue will share stories from the field.

The Fireside Lecture will begin at 7:00 p.m.  Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.  The Fireside Lectures and entrance to the Visitor Center are free of charge.

Visitor Center Winter Hours

The Visitor Center, Discovery Zone, and Discovery Southeast Bookstore are open all winter through March on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and during Friday nights for the Fireside Chats. 

The Visitor Center is closed on all federal holidays. 

Outdoor areas around the visitor center are 6 a.m. to midnight, year-round.
