State Troopers make arrest in relation to custodial interference

Wales, Alaska (KINY) – On November 4, 2023, the Alaska State Troopers were notified that 36-year-old Georgia resident Roman Bey had traveled to Wales with two young juveniles. Bey was allegedly attempting to travel to Russia with the children that he was ordered to return to their lawful guardian by a Georgia court.

Community members of Wales temporarily housed and provided food for Bey and his children. Troopers traveled to Wales on November 6, 2023, and transported Bey and the two children back to Nome.

Bey was arrested without incident in Nome and remanded to Anvil Mountain Correctional Center on one count of Custodial Interference 1 and violating a protective order. The two children were placed with the Office of Children Services.
