Telephone Hill Development Survey open through January 9

The City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) wants public input on the future development of the Telephone Hill neighborhood in Downtown Juneau. All Juneau residents are invited to take a quick online survey about development scenarios on Telephone Hill. The survey will be open through January 9.

The redevelopment plan will include a vision for Telephone Hill to become an exceptional, vibrant new neighborhood, where gathering, ecology, new access, and historical aspects amplify district character and provide a variety of experiences for people to enjoy.

In August of 2022, the CBJ Assembly passed Resolution 2999 accepting the donation of the Telephone Hill property from the State of Alaska. The land was transferred to CBJ in March 2023. Since that time the Assembly has appropriated funds for a study to prepare a housing redevelopment master plan and implementation strategy for the property. As part of the study, CBJ is collecting information in multiple methods, including at public meetings and this survey.

The two public engagement meetings were held on July 26 and October 11 and attracted a large crowd of residents, with the downtown area strongly represented. Previous input from the first public engagement was presented along with the vision and design alternatives included in this survey.
