Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – At least two earthquakes were felt by Juneau residents on Friday night. There were no reports of significant damage or injuries.
The first earthquake that occurred at 7:01 p.m. registered 5.1 on the Richter scale 89 miles northwest of Juneau.
The second earthquake at 7:44 p.m. registered at a magnitude of 5.3, according to the U.S. Geological Survey and Alaska Earthquake Center.
The Earthquake Center also recorded several aftershocks, with the largest being a magnitude 3.8 at about 9:11 p.m.
These events were reported to be felt across southeast Alaska. They were also reviewed by a seismologist.
The U.S. Geological Survey does not report a Tsunami threat at this time.
Residents of Southeast and elsewhere can fill out a ‘Did You Feel It?’ report to describe their experiences during these events.
On social media, some Juneau residents said they felt ‘strong shaking’ while others didn’t notice it at all.
