Ketchikan, Alaska (KINY) – Entries are needed for the juried art show at the Annual Alaska Hummingbird Festival, which begins with an opening reception on April 6, 2024.
The entry deadline for the juried art show is March 29, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. The art show will be on display at the Southeast Alaska Discovery Center until June 30, 2024.
Artists of all ages and all over Alaska are invited to participate in an exhibit dedicated to the migratory birds of the state. The event, hosted by the Southeast Alaska Discovery Center and Ketchikan Visitors Bureau, has been happening since 2006.
The juried art show prizes include Juvenile Best of Show -$100.00, Juvenile First Prize – $75.00, Juvenile Honorable Mention – $50.00, Adult Best of Show (18 & up) – $500.00, Adult First Prize – $300.00, Adult Honorable Mention – $200.00
Entry Guidelines
- Artwork must include birds, avian habitat and/or migratory bird patterns from the list provided on the back page of the entry form.
- Artwork must be recent, original, and not previously exhibited in Ketchikan, Alaska.
- Open to artists working in all media with a maximum of two entries per artist. Label each piece with “item 1” and “item 2” to correspond with each entry form.
- All two-dimensional entries must be framed and ready to hang (hardware, wire etc.) All three-dimensional entries must be ready for display. Note on entry form if you will include stands or props with your piece.
- You may sell your artwork at the exhibit. Proceeds benefit the artist (65%) with 25% going to SEADC educational programs including this juried art show and 10% to KVB.
