Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – On Saturday, at about 6:24 p.m., 58-year-old Juneau resident, Nathan Wilder Bishop, was reported missing from his residence on Clinton Drive, at the Riverside Senior Living facility.
Bishop was last seen at about 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
The Juneau Police Department said in a press release that Bishop is physically able, but suffers from Parkinson’s and dementia.
Bishop may also become tired after some time, and sit or lie down in areas, rather than seek help.
Bishop is described as a white male, about 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 200 pounds.
He was last seen wearing a brown t-shirt and grey joggers.
Bishop also wears glasses and was believed not to be wearing a coat at the time he went missing.
On Saturday night, first responders, SEADOGS, and volunteers conducted a search of the surrounding areas where Bishop went missing. A Silver Alert was activated through the State of Alaska Silver Alert System.
Search efforts are continuing on Sunday. SEADOGS and Juneau Mountain Rescue are checking areas with trained search dogs. Alaska State Troopers have set up a mobile command center in the parking lot of the Riverside Senior Living Facility.
Volunteers wanting to assist with the ground search are being asked to check in and out at the mobile command center on Clinton Drive.
Volunteers wanting to assist the search by staying mobile in vehicles and checking roadways don’t need to check in at the command center.
“If you live in the area where Bishop went missing, such as the 1-2 mile radius around Clinton Drive, please check surveillance cameras from the night of the 25th, after 5 p.m., that might have recorded someone matching Bishop’s description,” a JPD press release stated. “Additionally, homeowners can check the areas around their property to make sure Bishop did not seek shelter from the rain and colder temperatures.”
Anyone with information about Bishop should contact the Juneau Police Department on their business line at (907) 586-0600.
