Bail set at $1 million for murder suspect arrested last week

Gregory said Young’s death was the city's first homicide of the year.

Bail has been set at $1 million for a man charged with murder in a September shooting death.
Rodney Jeral Lindley, 41, was arrested Thursday morning after police received information about where he was hiding in the city. Lindley was wanted in the Sept. 13 murder of 30-year-old Mercedes Young.
Lindley, who allegedly fled the scene after the shooting, was quickly identified as the suspect. Young’s children, who were with their mother, allege that Lindley and Young had argued before their mother was shot, Gregory said.
Young’s death was the city’s first homicide of the year.
