On Saturday, September 14, Texarkana Police responded to Wadley Hospital after a 2-year-old child arrived with a gunshot wound to the leg. The child’s mother said the injury occurred when her 8-year-old accidentally shot the sibling after finding a firearm at their home in Texarkana, Arkansas. The child was later flown to Children’s Hospital in Little Rock and is in stable condition.
Police arrested Breydan Ybarra, the mother’s boyfriend, who transported the children to their grandmother’s home. Ybarra, a convicted felon, faces charges of Possession of a Firearm and three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Minor. Detectives are continuing the investigation.
