While the wintery holidays are typically filled with joy, for some they come with added stress and dread.
Victim outreach advocate Shayna Knoll, with Texarkana’s Domestic Violence Prevention Inc., said rates of domestic violence increase by 20% throughout the month of December.
Knoll said that a person in an unsafe situation often knows that they are not in the best place, and they need help with the confidence of knowing they have a safe place with a friend.
