The tragic incident at Magnolia Garden apartments, where a toddler was fatally struck by a driver, will not result in criminal charges, according to Shawn Vaughn, the public information officer for the Texarkana Texas Police Department. The March 21 accident, which took place as the driver, operating an SUV, entered the parking lot of the apartments on Magnolia Street, is deemed a tragic accident. Vaughn stated that the driver, unaware of the child’s presence, unintentionally hit the 1-year-old boy. Despite not immediately realizing the collision, the 28-year-old driver promptly contacted emergency services upon understanding the situation. Vaughn described the event as deeply unfortunate, particularly given the child’s age, just shy of 2 years old.
