The East Texas Food Bank, dedicated to fighting hunger across the region, recognized two recipients with its “Hunger Hero Award” on Monday as part of Hunger Action Month.

Henry McCant, founder of the Christian Food Pantry in Cass County, received the Lifetime Achievement Award. McCant has led his pantry for 20 years, partnering with the East Texas Food Bank since 2014. His efforts have helped distribute 8.3 million meals to Cass County residents, making his pantry one of the largest in East Texas.

The Community Partner Award was given to the non-profit “Ground Floor Collective” from Bowie County. Co-Founder Kristina Rivas-Jones praised the collaboration with the East Texas Food Bank, noting it helps provide crucial resources to families in need.

The East Texas Food Bank hopes these honorees will inspire others to join the fight against hunger. For more information or to get involved, visit easttexasfoodbank.org.
