The Shreveport-based non-profit, Geaux 4 Kids, is expanding its reach to assist more children in need. The organization provides “Geaux Bags,” which contain essential items for children transitioning out of crisis situations.
According to Bowie County Sheriff Jeff Neal, these bags serve as a crucial resource for children who may have to leave their homes suddenly, often with nothing. “It’s a stop-gap to meet their immediate needs while they transition to a safe place,” Neal said.
Geaux 4 Kids currently serves all of Louisiana and several counties in East Texas. Now, the organization is extending its services to the greater Texarkana area.
To support this expansion, KTAL sponsored an event at Cafe Lucille in downtown Texarkana, aiming to rally support in Bowie County, TX, and Miller County, AR. Founder and Executive Director K.C. Kilpatrick Baird emphasized the importance of local involvement. “This is funded by the community, for the community, and is managed by law enforcement to assist kids in crisis,” Baird said.
Next week, Geaux 4 Kids will deliver a shipment of Geaux Bags to law enforcement agencies in the Texarkana area, who will then distribute them as needed.
