The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a heat advisory until 8 p.m. Tuesday for nearly the entire region.
Temperatures are expected to reach the upper 90s near 100, with heat index values ranging from 105 to 112 degrees.
Residents are advised to take precautions due to the risk of heat-related illnesses. Recommendations include drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air-conditioned areas if possible, avoiding direct sunlight, and checking on relatives, neighbors, and pets.
