As temperatures drop across the Ark-La-Tex, area homeless shelters are gearing up.  Freezing cold is especially dangerous for the several hundred homeless people living on the streets or in the woods around Texarkana, and the Salvation Army started cold weather planning last summer to be sure they have the supplies, space and volunteers needed to help the homeless.  The Center of Hope can accommodate about 65 people but currently needs coats, gloves, hats, and socks for those in need.  Donations of new winter weather supplies can be taken directly to the shelter at 316 Hazel Street in Texarkana, Arkansas.
