A 36 year old Hope man has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for using the internet to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity. In April 2021 Jonathan Tyrell Haney enticed a 12-year-old girl to meet him for sex; the girl disappeared from her mother’s home but turned up the next day at a gas station. Haney was arrested in Sulphur Springs and his DNA was found on the girl’s clothing.
