The retired educators delighted the young learners with a generous donation of over 200 books as part of the Children’s Book Project. This initiative aims to provide books to students who may not have access to them, particularly during the summer break.

Carolyn Moore, president of the Texarkana-Bowie Retired Teachers Association, emphasized the significance of fostering a love for reading from an early age. She highlighted the project’s dedication to ensuring children have the necessary foundation for future success.

“This project is essential in instilling a passion for reading in our youth, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to thrive as they grow,” Moore explained.

The association’s commitment to literacy extended beyond Dunbar Elementary, with a total of 486 books donated across the Liberty-Eylau Independent School District. Over the years, the Retired Teachers Association has contributed hundreds of thousands of books to Texas school children, embodying their dedication to nurturing young minds through literature.
