A 79-year-old man accidentally drove his Honda Accord into Bringle Lake at the Texarkana park’s boat ramp. Fortunately, fisherman Ricky Dumas was nearby and heard the commotion on Friday afternoon.
Seeing the car sinking with the man still inside, Dumas quickly raced over in his boat and rescued the driver before the vehicle was fully submerged.
The driver was unharmed, and a dive team later retrieved the car from the lake.
Texarkana, Texas police expressed their gratitude on Facebook, saying, “We’re very thankful that Mr. Dumas was there today; his quick thinking and actions probably saved this man’s life.”
