A new year means new laws take effect, and retired Texas teachers will be getting more money in 2024. 86% of Texas voters approved proposition 9 in November, giving over 400,000 retired public education workers in the state as much as 6% more every month. Funding for the $5 billion raise is coming from general revenue.
