The Lake Wright Patman swimming areas will open tomorrow. In a post on the Bowie County Citizens Tribune Facebook page they shared information for the corp of engineers about the status of the swimming area at Lake Wright Patman:
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced that water levels at Wright Patman Lake are expected to return to normal, allowing swimming areas to reopen by tomorrow, July 3. This reopening comes just in time for Fourth of July campers.
The closures were due to heavy rains in May and early June, which caused excessive water accumulation. Ranger Logan Lovelace explained that the dams couldn’t safely release the excess water. To address this, the Corps of Engineers has been releasing the maximum amount of water into local rivers daily to bring the lake levels back to normal.
