Following a recent Texas parole denial for a convicted dog abuser, the Texarkana Animal Coalition Team (TACT) held an event called “Animal Abuse 101.”
At the Thursday meeting in the Texarkana Texas Convention Center, attendees learned about the legal steps to take from identifying animal abuse to holding abusers accountable.
TACT President Christina Tutt emphasized the importance of reporting animal abuse. “There is a significant correlation between animal abuse and domestic violence. Often, when we find animal abuse in a home, we also find domestic violence,” Tutt said.
Pamphlets with tips on spotting and preventing animal abuse were distributed during the meeting. Those interested in obtaining a pamphlet can contact TACT via Facebook or call the city of Texarkana, Texas, at 903-798-3876.
