On Tuesday night The Texarkana Arkansas Police officers swiftly responded to a disturbance report at Parkside Apartments, 1400 E. 35th St., around 6:48 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered an apartment with its door ajar and noticeable traces of blood in the living room. The TAPD Criminal Investigation Division promptly joined the scene to conduct a thorough investigation.

Despite their efforts, the detectives couldn’t find the injured party. However, they later received information that the victim, a 24-year-old black male, had departed for an undisclosed location in Mt. Pleasant, TX. Subsequently, it was revealed that the victim had sought medical attention in Mt. Pleasant for hand injuries sustained during the incident.

Further investigation by the CID revealed that the victim had accidentally discharged his firearm while mishandling it. The case remains under active investigation as detectives continue to gather evidence and information
