A man named Mattheous Lloyd from Texarkana has been charged with arson for a fire that happened on July 2 near the Tristate Motel.
Investigators say Lloyd had a disturbance with another man before the fire. The fire started in an empty room of a former Tristate Motel building, according to Texarkana Fire Chief Chris Black.
Chief Black mentioned that they managed to contain the fire quickly, but the hot weather made it challenging.
Lloyd is currently being held at the Bi-State Detention Center with bail set at $40,000.
