A Texarkana museum and welcome center has received a grant for renovations.
“We are so pleased to receive a $10,000 grant from the TLL Temple Foundation. This grant will help us enhance our welcome center,” said Emily Tarr, Director of the Texarkana Museum System.
The welcome center, part of the Regional History Museum, serves downtown Texarkana’s Arts and Historic District. The renovations will support the museum’s mission to educate visitors about the rich history of the Texarkana area without disrupting it.
“We will continue our educational efforts at the museum. We’ve been functioning as the welcome center for several years, but we need enhancements to better serve travelers and locals seeking information,” Tarr explained.
The grant will primarily be used for new carpeting and seating.
“When people visit to pick up brochures, look around, or take a break from their travels, they need a comfortable place to sit, relax, and learn about Texarkana in a calm, pleasant atmosphere,” Tarr added.
The improvements are expected to benefit both tourists and locals.
“We often have locals who come in asking where to take their visitors,” said Tarr. “This upgrade will meet the needs of both residents and travelers.”
